The Next Day

Well, Hubby’s precious Avs lost, but Sweet Pea’s favorite Oilers won. She had a wonderful time, I had a hard time waking her up for school today. She also got to sample the food at Rexall, which she was very excited about!

My training shift was super easy, she didn’t even really need anyone to sit with her anymore.  I just sat close to her and helped her out if she needed it, which wasn’t often.

I got frustrated at a caller.  She was tired of waiting on hold for a nurse at Healthlink, so she phoned the hospital looking for advice.  Her son had a fever of over 38 C and Tylenol wasn’t keeping it down and she was wondering if she should bring him in.  Me advising potential patients is an absolute no-no, although some operators do it.  I explained to her that it had to be her decision, that I couldn’t tell her whether or not to bring him in as I wasn’t a medical professional.  She just couldn’t get it-’Well, what should I do?’  ‘Should I bring him in?  I’m really worried!’  MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION PEOPLE!!!!!!!  What ever happened to personal accountability and trusting your gut???  Worst case scenario, you wait in the ER for a few hours, they tell you it’s a viral bug and send you home.

First NHL game.

Sweet Pea and hubby are going to an NHL game tomorrow night.  They’re seeing Oilers vs. Avs and they are both really excited.  Hubby goes to around 3 or 4 games a year, but Sweet Pea has never been.  She is thrilled!

Hubby originally wanted to take me, it’s been years since I’ve seen a game and I really enjoy them but I told hubby that if he took Sweet Pea, it would be one of those experiences that she will remember fondly forever.  It’s shaping up that I’m right on this one!  Hubby has strict instructions to get a lot of pictures for scrapbooking!

Toboganning

Went tobogann sledding on Friday-I can’t spell that word at all!  Princess and I had a blast with a friend of ours and her daughter.  Princess gave up after a couple of trips up the hill and planted herself at the bottom and proceeded to eat snow.  Yuck, but I remember doing the same thing, so it can’t be all that bad!  Just as long as it’s not dirty!  Too bad it’s melting so quickly around here-I’d like to go again.  Maybe next week sometime.

The news had warnings tonight that local ponds are starting to thaw-so we can’t go skating at the pond anymore.  The seasons change so quickly around here!  It goes from -30 to melting in a matter of a couple of weeks.  It seems like there’s no happy medium.

Phone Message

So, I come home today and there is a message on my phone from work informing me that there’s been a change and they need me to train a newbie tomorrow.  Ugh.  I hate training, I am not good at it.  Also, I am still fairly new there.  I’m there as a casual, I work barely 8-10 hours a week.  I really don’t feel confident enough to be training people.  I’ve told my supervisor, but obviously she doesn’t feel the same way.  This person better have had a couple of training shifts already, because if she’s totally wet behind the ears I will freak!

Mind your own flipping business!!!

So, I took my sanity in my hands and went to Costco today with the kids. Yep, on a Saturday afternoon with a 3 year old that doesn’t fit in the carts seats, and an almost 7 year old. I am certifiable, I know!

Anyway, they got a stern warning when we walked in-that I wasn’t putting up with any behaviours or outbursts, and that I had no problems walking away and leaving a full cart behind. They were really good though, I let them go crazy a bit in the quiet aisles, and for the most part they voluntarily stayed close when we were in crowds. Until we got to the till. Smart kids I’ve got-they knew very well that I wouldn’t walk away at the end of the journey! So, after 2 warnings, I had to grab them by the hands, hold them close, make them look me in the eye and very sternly told them to settle down or I would take away the Dora painting craft I bought for them. I was probably on the verge of shouting, it’s a loud store and I was getting really frustrated. I stood up to a mother giving me a nasty look-like I was a horrible mom. Luckily she didn’t say anything thing.

As much as I would love to rant with expletives, I won’t. I’ll just say mind your own business lady and I’ll raise my children how I see fit. They’re amazing children, for the most part very well behaved. They are smart, confident and thoughtful of others-I don’t doubt for one moment that they will grow up with the same traits. Just what we all want for our kids right? I must be doing something right. Stupid woman, her look really bothered me. Obviously, this was hours ago and I’m still venting.

Found One!!!!

Found a copy of Rock Band!  Went to my trusty parenting website and asked for help on finding one-someone pointed me to a local video rental store.  What’s that you say???  That it must have cost me an arm and a leg?  That I’d be better off waiting until the big box store got stock?  That I seemed like a smart chick but now you’re not so sure???  Guess what?  It was cheaper than what Best Buy had it advertised for!  I was shocked!

OK, this game is the most fun ever!  I can’t wait to have the girls over for drinks sometime and belt out some rock tunes!  Celebrity Skin is on top of the list.  What woman doesn’t want to do the loud obnoxious Courtney Love bit just once and a while?  Minus the drugs and suicidal husband of course.

Sigh….

There’s nary a copy of Rock Band for the PS2 to be found in the city.  I wonder if anyplace will take my name and number and phone me when it comes in.

So much for doing something nice for hubby!  Ah well, his birthday is coming up-maybe I will find one by then.

Lots to do…

Today is shaping up to be a busy day.  I have laundry, cleaning, and that pesky Itunes problem to deal with!  Plus, numerous running around and I think that I may drop by my local Best Buy and buy Rock Band for hubby.  He’s been talking about it non-stop since his friend got it, and he never buys anything for himself.  I think that I might splurge on him today!

So, this will probably be my only post for today.  Don’t miss me too much though, I’m working the night shift tomorrow, and if I’m really bored I might just blog all night long!  There might be lots of reading after the weekend is over.

Thirty Things

I copied this from a friend’s blog:

1. If your doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say? I think that I would probably say ‘Oh God, NOW what have I done?’

2. Do you trust all of your friends? No, been hurt too many times to trust many people.

3. Would you move to another state or country to be with the one you love? Depends. If I had no other choice, then I would-I wouldn’t let something like that get between me and hubby-but I wouldn’t be that happy about it!

4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? No, I think things just happen, and the key is how you deal with them and what you take from the situations.

5. Can you make a dollar in change right now? Right now? Like out of thin air? That would be a great talent! Yes, I can-we have a change jar.

6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor? Unfortunately, I think that I’m the only one that could handle something like that.

7.What naughty word do you use too often?  Fuck.  Fuck Me.  Jesus Christ Almighty.

8. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times? Hubby,  the kids, that’s about it.

9. What’s your most favorite scar? My c-section scar-I love them and hate them at the same time-I was very bitter about having a section.  I hated every moment of both surgeries, but it is the best scar because of what it represents.

10. When was the last time you flew in a plane? This past August, we flew home from Nova Scotia.

11. What features do you find most attractive in the preferred sex? OMG, I love  all the features-smell, style, lack of style, eyes, hair, nice hands, it all depends on the man.  Different men  lend themselves to different features.  Let’s just say that I really enjoy the opposite sex in general.

12. Fill in the blank. I love chocolate pudding.

13. What is a goal you would like to accomplish in the near future? Lose 60 pds-again, start running again, go back to school.

14. If you were to wake up from being in a coma for an extended time who would you call?  Hubby if he wasn’t there to ask where the hell was he!

15. Where was your favorite picture taken? In Lisbon, at Comercio Square.  It had to be at least 30 degrees Celsius, and there was an old man feeding pigeons in the square-he was wearing a wool suit.  I took the picture, and when I got it developed I took out some of the noisey bits around the edges, made it B&W, and it is my favourite.

16. What’s your middle name? Charlynn

17. Honestly, what’s on your mind right now? I have a headache, I should take something out for supper since we won’t be going to gymnastics.

18. If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be? Oh God, there’s too many to mention-also that whole idea that going back and changing the past could affect the present in ways  you can’t imagine-I like the present as it is.

19. Who was or will be the maid of honor/ best man in your wedding? I’m not married yet, and I don’t know if we ever will.  If we do, our children will be there for sure.

20. What are you wearing right now? One of hubbies’ shirts, and a pair of pajama bottoms.

21. Ever had a bar fight? No-not with fists flying or anything, but lots of shouting.

23. Did you buy something today? No

24. Did you get in a fight with someone today? No

25. When is the last time you had a massage? Oh God, I can’t remember!

26. Last person to see you cry? The kids, and  hubby.

27. Who made you cry? Stupid friends.

28. What was the last TV show you watched? Superwhy.

29. Who was the last person you hung out with? Hubby-we went out for dinner last night.

30. Have you ever taken a peek at someone else’s diary? No.
