The View From Our Door

Here’s a picture of the view from our front door-this was taken in the summer, that’s why everything is so green!  Aren’t we lucky?

I hope that I never take for granted the grandeur of the ocean-the beauty and power of it just amazes me everytime I think of it!  With the horrible storms that have been forecasted, just not really hitting us, we have had a lot of storm surges, which are really high waves and just a general elevation in the waterline that amazes me.  The cabin that my mom and step-dad use have about 10 grand worth of damage done to the property already, and we have just started the winter!  It is so bad that they are going to have to give it up unless they can get the owner to sell, or at least come to a legal agreement to sell.  The retaining wall is so damaged that they think it’s not safe for the kids to be there, but they can’t afford to put so much money into a property that they don’t even own-they have put lots of money into it in the past couple of years, they’ve painted, built a dock, cleared out shrubbery from the field, and did major work on the retaining wall.  It’s sad, it will break everyone’s heart to see them give up the cabin.

My Beekeeping Friend

A friend of mine has decided to start beekeeping this year, and her son filmed this video of her and the rest of the family transferring the bees from their shipping containers to the hives. It’s a very interesting process, and just fascinating to hear about!

What kind of a bird is this?

Saw this bird the other day when Katie and I were at a local park. Any ideas on what kind of a bird it is?

I’m in Northern Alberta for any readers that stumble upon this.
